This component includes two sub-components:
This sub-component involves the electrification of approximately 286 new localities in the Far North, East, and North-West regions through:
- (i) the construction of 1,136 km of Medium Voltage (MV) lines,
- (ii) the construction of 1,237 km of Low Voltage (LV) lines, and
- (iii) the installation of 544 pole-mounted substations/transformers supporting overhead lines, including 300 transformers of 50 kVA, 172 transformers of 100 kVA, and 72 single-phase 25 kVA transformers for SWER.
This sub-component, which is currently being discontinued under World Bank funding, aimed, among other things, to:
- (i) construct new MV distribution substations and/or HV/MV substations;
- (ii) build HV/MV lines;
- (iii) modernize single-phase medium voltage lines;
- (iv) convert single-phase medium voltage networks (Single Wire Earth Return – SWER) into three-phase networks to meet growing demand; and
- (v) restructure the MV network to electrify new localities.
